Vernal Freshness

Spring has FINALLY arrived!
Jacob and I were sweeping off the patio on this windy April day and even found some pretty purple flowers bursting out of the mouldy woodchip-flowerbed in front of our building. YAHOO! Buds are budding on trees and the snow is almost all melted away. All we need now are some wet April showers to wash away all the dirt and sludge from winter to make our home a garden-suite once again.

We are loving the balmy days of spring and take every opportunity we can to frolic in the sun. Well, maybe not every opportunity. My neat-freakness (or maybe just laziness?) kicks in when I see all the mud and dust and dirt, so Jacob and I have been content to go on long long walks with our MEC stroller. Once Jacob gets a little more confident walking, I won't mind him getting dirty so much. But crawling around in grunge and filth isn't exactly my idea of fun.

Oh yeah... did I mention Jacob has been walking like an absolute maniac?? He LOVES to walk and gets so excited, though his skills have lots of room to improve. About a month ago he took his first independent steps, and now he's taking 10 or more steps between furniture and walls to get him places. Where he used to only pull himself up on furniture, he now picks himself up without any aid. He's getting to be such a big boy!

The era of fetishes has began... Jacob really likes hats, and insists on wearing them all the time. I LOVE IT! It's so cute.

Jacob's first-ever swing ride was a big hit. Everyday I ask him if he wants to go on a walk to the park and he gets all excited, pointing to the window and grabbing his hat. Since the playground is flooded from all the lovely spring runoff, we haven't been able to return to the swing. But he likes to walk up and down the walkway, and especially likes to watch the big kids play at recess. Yay for spring!
