This and That

A few weeks ago I undertook a new sewing challenge: a diaper bag. Shayla sent me a link to a really cute website (thanks Shay!) where I found a buttercup bag pattern. But I don't need a purse. If you've ever seen my old diaper bag, you'd quickly realize that a small purse would do me no good. So I went to work modifying the pattern to make a larger version of the purse. And I made it WAY too big. After all was said and done, I held it up and said "OOPS". Sheesh. I could have worn it around my waist as a skirt. Ya. HUGE. So with a little help from Mr. Seam Ripper, I went back to work and made it smaller by about 4 inches. And here is the finished product. I love my new diaper bag! What I love even more is that I made it! Woohoo! Not to brag or anything, but I even used PVC on the inside to make it waterproof and I made a snap pocket, a zipper pocket and 3 little stretchy elastic pockets. I'm a genius! haha... well, maybe not genius. But I had fun making it. So maybe I'll make something again soon. I am in desperate need of a few new skirts...

This is what happens when I leave a sleepy daddy to watch a wide-awake baby while I make dinner.

Jacob thinks sitting in his crib is the silliest thing. He just giggles and laughs and talks. He loves to peek at us through the bars and just thinks it's such a joke!

We were total party poopers for Halloween this year. We watched Hocus Pocus and carved pumpkins. No costumes. No party. And by the time Halloween night actually came (Saturday night for us) we were so candied out that candy wasn't on the menu. Jay's pumpkin turned out the best. It's the mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Both faces are carved into the same pumpkin, which had an eerie face-shaped quality to begin with. Hope ya'll had a happy Halloween!

  2. Yeah good job on the diaper bag, I think you definitely are a genius! Maybe even a proffesional Genius what with all of those do-hickeys and pockets and such. Your pumpkin is awesome too, it's like the twin of ours, lets coordinate every halloween!
