Tribute

This is for posterity. I was blog-hopping the other day and saw something I liked that I want to repeat, if the original blogger doesn't mind. She wrote a letter to her son so that when he's older and going through the terrible twos, stubborn preteen and invincible teen years she can look back and remember how much she loves him, and he can read it later in life and know that his parents really do love him unconditionally. Here goes.

To my son, Jacob,
Daddy and I were so excited when we found out we were going to have a baby. We laughed and yelled and cried. We loved the idea of our twosome becoming a threesome and were completely thrilled that Heavenly Father would entrust such a sweet little spirit to us. After you were born, the responsibilities ahead threatened to rock our little world, but your sweet smile always helped us remember what was most important: family.
Today you're almost 9 months old and such a delight to us. Every little thing you do just holds us spellbound and we can't wait for you to continue to learn and grow. We found a tooth yesterday and are so excited! When you learned to roll over we were ecstatic. Now that you can sit on your own, it's so fun to watch you play and talk baby gibberish to your toys. Daddy loves to make you giggle. Every time he calls home during the day, you seem to know its him and you get so excited. You love to hear his voice and you stare him down the second he walks in the door until he gives you the smile you're looking for.
I love being your momma. It's such an unexplainably amazing thing to be able to care for you and watch you grow, play with you and love you. Even during those days that are kind of tough, I just have to pick you up and you seem to sense I need a hug. You wrap your little arms around my neck and everything else seems to melt away. I am so blessed and honoured to be your mother. Everyday I thank Heavenly Father for the greatest blessing he could have sent us: you. Jacob, you have the sweetest little spirit and I know that someday you'll grow into the man your Heavenly Father wants you to be. We love you Yacoboo!
